Mensenrechten bieden een belangrijk moreel houvast en fungeren als een kader voor het sociaal werk. Aan de hand van praktijksituaties maakt Recht doen aan sociale professionals de wereld van het recht toegankelijk voor (aanstaande) sociale professionals.

Preventie is een belangrijk onderwerp in het sociale domein. Van professionals in het sociaal domein wordt dan ook verwacht dat zij preventief kunnen denken en handelen.
