The aim of this book is to provide students and other interested readers with an up-to-date introduction to economic geography, applied to the Netherlands and beyond. . It provides an overview of what economic geography studies and summarizes and explains its main approaches.

In Diversity competence, interpersonal communication forms the point of departure: the meeting of people, not of cultures. From there onwards, the authors describe what diversity competence entails: which processes, challenges and skills are relevant in a ‘superdiverse’ world. The TOPOI model consequently offers an inclusive, communicative approach to analyze and address potential miscommunication.

Pathways to Empowerment helps counsellors to master an attitude and acquire the competences needed to do strength-based work with clients. The chapters provide practical insights by means of case studies and quotes from clients and counsellors. Each chapter concludes with some assignments. The publication has been included in the Effective Social Interventions database (Databank Effectieve sociale interventies; Dutch only) of Dutch knowledge institute Movisie as being ‘well-founded’.
